Back in April 2019, Stobart and the airport recognised that they needed local assistance to help manage relationships and provide marketing support for scheduled airlines and tour operators. Airport knowledge, previous experience of delivering marketing campaigns combined with strong existing relationships with airline personnel, meant The Creative Alchemist was perfectly placed to do this and hit the ground running immediately.
Our focus was to create and deliver a marketing campaign for the airport and its airline partners including KLM, Balkan Holidays, Jetsgo Holidays and Eastern Airways to ensure route performance and sales on all routes were a success.
To launch the new Eastern Airways routes from Teesside, we were asked to create a 12-month marketing strategy to raise awareness of the airline and drive bookings to the new flights. Working with the airport team and the Tees Valley Combined Authority, we developed a fully integrated strategy incorporating a range of offline advertising tactics, PR, out of home, events, incentives and digital solutions.
Also, we identified the strategy needed to be backed up with a robust creative airport campaign which needed to showcase it is possible to fly anywhere in the world through a range of direct or connecting flights. It had to be engaging to increase awareness and emphasise the convenience and accessibility offered when flying from Teesside International. It also needed to be different from the competition and flexible in its design to allow the airport to use it for a whole range of campaigns moving forward.
We created a unique illustration style which has the flexibility to be adapted for generic airport campaigns, work with other airline and tour operator marketing and appeal to a range of customers.
